Wow, True Holiday Miracle, Smiles, & Home

Emily is at home. Everyone is amazed at how well Emily has progressed. This has moved far faster than predicted. She has been able to come home and continue treatment there. Doctors have suggested that she not have visitors for a couple of weeks due to Emily's immune system being weak. She loves phone calls and to hear from well-wishers and friends. Thank you for all of the wonderful thoughts and kindness.

We all miss her here at MCA and are thinking of her always. - Happy Holidays!

12/08 Update

Emily's CT scan looks very good. She is certainly on the road to recovery. We give our precious Father in heaven all the praise and honor for such a miraculous start to a recovery.

The doctor has said that if she continues at this rate there is a great possibility of her going home just in time for Christmas. She also received good news that Ms. Kessler's dog, Countdown can come and visit her in the hospital. She anxiously awaits his arrival.

Continue to pray because we know that it is by God's healing hand that she has beat all the odds thus far!

Today's Update: 10/07

Emily is progressing wonderfully with the left left side of her body. She continues to fight the infection well. She is resting comfortably thanks to the wonders of Morphine. She started physical therapy yesterday, simple movements like squeezing with her hands, wiggling her fingers and toes. Every step is a praise to the our Merciful Father in heaven.
She keeps waking up and asking when her friends can come visit... she wants food and friends... when the time comes for visitors we hope you will all come help to entertain her. She has begged to get on facebook every night just to talk to all her friends! She asked the doctor yesterday if she can go back to school next week because she was bored already. He very kindly told her "No way!"
The Doctor said that Em is going to get another CT scan later on this afternoon to check up on the infection and whether or not the antibiotics are definitely fighting it appropriately.

Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement.

Evening Update

Em is about the same as she was earlier today... getting adjusted to her new room in Pediatric Intermediate Care. But doctors are saying now that they feel it would be best if she doesn't receive any visitors until Thursday due to her pain and discomfort. Again, thanks for all the prayers and support!

12/05 Update

12/05 Update

Emily is doing well enough to be moved a step down later on today-- IMC 6th floor. Which means she will still be in ICU, but down the hall, and not as closely monitored. They are bathing her and cleaning her up today; brushing her hair. She continues to make progress in regards to the left side of her body. She's still talking but, when she wakes up she is in a lot of pain, because her whole body is now starting to fight the meningitus. Visitation will be restricted today to certain times because of her level of discomfort as the meningitis spreads throughout her body. Thanks for the many prayers!

Emily's Status as of this afternoon 12/4

December 4th @ 7pm

Emily is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Brenner's Children's Hospital. After her surgery on Wednesday evening to remove infection from her brain, Emily has made many positive small steps. Emily is both talking and writing her desires and enjoying the cards that have begun to decorate her room. Emily's body is still in the process of fighting the infection that has made her so very ill. Due to the pain of the fight that her body is enduring, she is resting as much as possible. Emily's road of recovery is going to be long and difficult but we all know that she has an amazing spirit. Shannon, Rachel, Jessie, and Jeff have all amazed me with their strength when I have been able to visit.
